The new lanes are being built on the Princes Highway between Mount Pleasant and Fern Street at Gerringong and will help to alleviate congestion in this area, especially in the busy Christmas holiday period ahead.
Motorists travelling south on the Princes Highway near Gerringong will be able to travel on the new southbound lanes while those wanting to access Gerringong at Fern Street can exit the highway using the left lane into Fern Street.
There will be some changes to traffic conditions to prepare for the traffic change including a temporary night time road closure of Fern Street on Wednesday and Thursday, November 26-27 between 27 7pm and 6am, weather permitting.
Motorists can use Belinda Street for access into and out of Gerringong during the night closure.
Night work at Belinda Street to finalising drainage improvements previously scheduled for Wednesday, November 26 will now take place on Friday, December 5.
Motorists travelling from Fern Street to Kiama can travel north along Fern Street to the Rose Valley Road Bridge and use the northbound on ramp to access the highway.
Motorists travelling north on the Princes Highway from Berry can access Gerringong at Belinda Street or use the northbound highway off ramp at Rose Valley Road and travel south on Fern Street.
It is important that motorists travelling from Gerringong to Berry were aware to exit at Belinda Street, as there will be no access onto the Princes Highway at Fern Street for southbound motorists.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Rose Valley Road to Berry will access the highway via the northbound on ramp and travel north on the Princes Highway to Weir Street at Kiama for southbound access.
