Winning the toss and electing to bat at Sanctuary Point Oval on Saturday, Norths started strongly with Blake Huard and Alex Peters putting on 50 for the first wicket.
The Norths top order batted well to get the visitors off to a strong start before Nick McDonald capitalised on his teammate’s work, hitting five boundaries in 40 which came off 48 balls.
Graham Davidson and Dean Tyson looked to increase the intensity and build on Norths strong start with the pair both scoring at better than a run-a-ball.
Davidson cracked 13 boundaries in 94 which came off only 76 deliveries before being bowled by Liam O’Brien.
Tyson hit three boundaries and a six in 30 off 25 balls as Norths batted their allotted overs and finished 6/274.
O’Brien was the pick of the Basin bowlers, taking 3/44 from nine overs.
In reply, Basin got off to a good start, looking to make headway into the Norths total.
O’Brien backed up his good bowling performance with the bat, hitting five boundaries and a six in 46.
However the Basin batsmen struggled to build any significant partnerships throughout the innings, with Pat Matson being the next top score with 23.
Nick McDonald completed a good double with the ball, taking 4/15 from 3.5 overs to wrap up the Basin innings.
Ben Beck picked up 3/22 from his seven overs and Davidson also chipped in with two wickets to seal the victory for Norths.
The home side was bowled out for 145 in the 32nd over, ensuring victory for Norths and their first win for the season.
