Emergency services were called to Lyndhurst Drive around 8.20am after reports a car had crashed into the front of a house. It was the second time a vehicle had crashed into a building in the area in as many days.
A Ford SUV collided with a minibus from Havenlee Special School, mounting the kerb on the corner of Lyndhurst Drive and David Place, ploughing through a hedge and into the lounge room of the house.
The female driver was uninjured in the accident, in which the car smashed through the front windows and wall of the home.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for shock.
The minibus was able to stop on the side of the road after the accident. Seven children and two staff members on their way to school at the time escaped injury, although one student was reported to have suffered a bump on the head.
The children were taken to school soon afterwards.
Luckily the owners of the home were not in the lounge room at the time of the accident, however it was reported the male owner saw the vehicle coming and said it “was like it was happening slow motion”.
The front of the home suffered significant damage, with tow truck operators delicately removing the car from where it was lodged.
Paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW crews stabilised the front of the home and a structural engineer will assess the property.
On Thursday afternoon emergency services were called to the Intensity Fitness gym in Kinghorne Street, Nowra after an out of control car crashed through its front doors.
Police said a female driver believed to be in her 70s had been at the nearby Shell service station, when she inadvertently placed the vehicle in reverse rather than drive.
Bystanders said the car reversed out of the station, clipped another car, before careering across two lanes of traffic, mounting the curb and crashing through the front doors of the building.
