Wildlife Rescue South Coast volunteer Dusty Jones said it was the worst case of animal cruelty he had seen in many years.

“This trap was still attached to the foot of the young kangaroo but the damage had caused its foot to rot off.

“The roo was in such distress I couldn’t believe anyone could be so cruel.”

Mr Jones was told by residents they had seen the injured animal trying to hop around two weeks beforehand.

“Animal traps are very cruel things and this is about the fourth one I’ve come across in the last few years.

“I would like to invite the owner of this trap to contact me because I would like to return it to a part of his anatomy,” Mr Jones said.
