AFTER a 10 year plus hiatus from the Athletics NSW State Relay Championships, nine junior teams from Nowra Athletics Club travelled to Sydney Olympic Park on the weekend to “paint the track red” or yellow in this case.

The teams were mostly borne out of commitment by the athletes themselves who wanted to suit up in the Nowra colours and run for their club, their parents and region.
Support from their coaches enabled them to represent their club in true Nowra Style, something which club captain Mel Mustapic appreciated.
“It was a true team effort, and a number of the children had just met but everyone including the parents chipped in and did their bit to ensure the weekend was a success. From my observations the efforts of the Nowra Athletics Club didn’t go unnoticed,” she said.
