ON the weekend of November 1-2, I was visiting the beautiful area of Huskisson.

On both mornings I rose early to go for a ride. I have a bike called a Fatbike that is designed to be ridden on sand or snow. I rode down Collingwood Beach on both mornings about 7am.
There were very few people on the beach, the sun had just risen and the world was a beautiful place. Until, that is, a group of elderly women on Saturday and two different elderly women on Sunday made it quite clear that I was not welcome on the beach and there was “a cycle path” to be ridden on.
One lady actually photographed me and shouted, “I’ll send that to the council”.
I have since contacted the council which informed me there are no laws against riding a bike on Shoalhaven City Council beaches.
I would just like to say how disappointed I was by the mean-spirited nature of these people. One way to deter people from visiting such a beautiful area is to have people like these. I had a holiday house in Vincentia for many years and I am saddened that the area now has such small-minded people.
