Current member Shelley Hancock, Labor candidate Fiona Phillips, Mayor Gash and Local Area Commander Superintendent Joe Cassar all appeared to struggle to provide answers to the questions from the floor.
At the end of the meeting, it was evident that little progress had been made and no solutions offered as to addressing the situation of the lack of policing in the Bay and Basin.
Simply, a political solution is required to the law and order problems as described. The speakers all appeared tired and lacked enthusiasm for the debate, which only reinforced the need for a change at the next election.
That change in whatever form that takes is the only hope for the residents of the Shoalhaven and in particular the Bay and Basin area. The voters must act in the best interest of their communities and elect a new and energetic member who will fight on their behalf and not simply toe the party line.
It’s time!
