Matthew will certainly be a force to be reckoned with, in future years.
This year he has competed at both the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships as well as the recent NSW PSSA Athletics Championships, both held at Homebush, Sydney.
At the recent NSW PSSA Athletics Championships held at Olympic Park, Matthew competed in the boy's eights years 100m sprint.
He ran well enough to make the semi-final with a personal best time of 15.54 seconds and was overall placed as the 12th fastest eight year boy old in NSW.
Matthew also competes at his school with success in Cross country and many teams sports.
Meanwhile, in the State Championships in swimming earlier in the year, Matthew competed in the boy's 8 Year's 50 Metre Freestyle.
He was placed 6th overall in the final, which is an outstanding effort.
Matthew made a personal best time of 38.48 seconds.
At these championships, Matthew also competed in the Boys Open 250 LC Metre freestyle all age relay (at the young age of only eight years) and the South Coast Team were placed eights overall out of 13 schools.
Keep an eye out for Matthew in the future.
