Hosted by the Gerringong committee of the Children’s Medical Research Institute, the show will be held in the Gerringong Town Hall.
The quilt show is famous for its amazingly varied and beautiful quilts and wall hangings.
The Gerringong committee’s craft stall will also have a wide variety of handmade Christmas gifts available, including children’s wear, soft toys and Christmas decorations.
The legendary homemade Christmas cakes and puddings will also be on sale, as will tickets in the annual quilt raffle.
There will also be other quilting jewellery and scrapbooking stalls.
Gerringong committee members work for 12 months organising and making items for sale at the show and, as they put it, “have a great time together”.
All funds raised will go to the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
The Gerringong committee was founded in 1959 – a year after the CMRI was formed by the late Dorothy Bailey.
Since then, the Gerringong group has raised an amazing $1,750,000 for the institute – an extraordinary feat considering it has just 70 members.
Original members, Mena and Joyce Sharpe and Marg O’Keeffe, are still actively involved with the organisation.
It is going to be a busy time for the Gerringong committee. As well as staging its quilt show, it is also hosting a Melbourne Cup Luncheon at the Gerroa Boat Fishermen’s Club next Tuesday.
The show is open from 9am-5pm but will close at 3pm on the Sunday.
Entry is just $5 and refreshments will be on sale all day.
