The family recently told its story in the South Coast Register after the 24-year-old woman and her seven-and-a-half-month-old beagle were attacked by a pit bull while on a regular morning walk about 8.30am on busy Illaroo Road.
The woman suffered a number of scratches in the attack and a bite puncture wound in the flesh part of her hand, while the pet dog suffered cuts all over its mouth.
The family launched a petition calling on Shoalhaven City Council to commit to further action in controlling stray dogs and has so far collected 300 signatures, going door to door in the North Nowra area.
They have now launched a Facebook page, Protect Shoalhaven Dogs, which has also attracted interest, with more than 40 likes and numerous comments.
The page aims to highlight to Shoalhaven City Council the increase in the number of stray dog attacks in the Shoalhaven area.
Petitions are available to be signed at the Sola Store on Illaroo Road and at the South Coast Register office or you can comment on the Protect Shoalhaven Dogs Facebook page.
