Sophie, in recent weeks, won an Australian ranking tournament in the 12 years and under division and then won a Wollongong Silver Australian Ranking tournament.
The 12-year-old Year Seven St John the Evangelist High School student now joins a select group of tennis players who have won such singles titles from the Shoalhaven Club at this level.
Sophie said she was pleased with her results.
“I have been doing more training and working on different aspects of my game,” she said.
“I have been working a lot on my serve and have changed my grip.
“My goal is to becoming a more consistent server.”
Sophie said her backhand was her best stroke.
“My backhand is strong because I hit it aggressively,” she said.
Sophie has dropped a few sports to concentrate on her tennis.
She once placed touch, cricket and took part in week day athletics events.
Tennis is a family sport and Sophie’s mother Roz is her coach, along with Mark Pritchard.
Next up for Sophie is the Medibank Junior Development Squad’s State Final this weekend in Richmond.
When she is not on the tennis court, Sophie enjoys dancing.
