Trained by Steve Englebrecht out of Warwick Farm, the in-form mare overcame the top weight and a wide barrier to claim a half length victory over late charging Tragedy Queen, trained by Luke Price, with Riebeek finishing two lengths away third.
Apprentice jockey Ms Deanne Panya, who partnered the $3.20 race favourite over the 1200m course, pressed forward out of barrier ten to find the front by the 800 metre mark. Although the pair looked under threat in the late stages of the race they hung on to take out the $20,000 feature race.
The annual Mollymook Cup proved popular with racegoers again this year. With a strong turn out of enthusiastic punters making their way up from the lower South Coast for the race day.
