Two helicopters were searching the water at the northern point of Gordons Bay from about 3pm Saturday, as well as numerous jetskis, surf rescue boats, water police and divers.
Westpac Life Saver Rescue helicopter chief executive Stephen Leahy said nothing was found after almost an hour of searching and all emergency services had returned to their normal duties.
A spokeswoman for police media said someone had reported seeing something in the water but no one else had seen anything and emergency services had searched the area thoroughly.
Police were continuing their inquiries.
This has been happening every weekend, people need to be more careful near the water

The search followed the death of a woman on Saturday morning after she fell into the ocean while rock fishing with her husband near Killalea Beach at Shell Cove, on the NSW south coast.
Earlier this month, a man suffering fatal head injuries was discovered on rocks at Gordons Bay. He was believed to have fallen off a cliff at the popular swimming location.
