Police attended three dog attacks in the Shoalhaven since Sunday.
A North Nowra woman and her dog were injured when they were set upon while walking along Illaroo Road on Monday.
There were no serious injuries but the other two dog attacks are under investigation, one occurred Tuesday morning at Sanctuary Point.
Shoalhaven City Council’s Ranger Services manager Michael Jarman said one dog had been impounded awaiting its fate pending a police investigation.
“The courts take a pretty dim view of repeat offenders if they can’t control a dog,” Mr Jarman said.
Only a couple of months ago Mr Jarman issued a warning to dog owners regarding their animals behaving in a threatening manner to people and other dogs.
“A dog doesn’t have to bite a person to be classified as dangerous.
“A dangerous dog is one we think has or is likely to bite someone or something, or has bitten or killed another animal.
“A menacing dog shows unusual aggression or has an aggressive nature.
“If dog owners can ensure their animals can’t get out of their yards everyone will be happy.”
Owners of dangerous or menacing dogs face a minimum fine of $1760 for not having their animal under control in a public place.
