Food enthusiasts are expected to travel from all over the state to feast on great fare and the coast’s beautiful sweeping vistas.

Each year the best chefs, cooks and food producers are showcased in a month-long program of events throughout Sydney and regional NSW.

Kicking things off on Saturday, October 4, Wharf Rd Restaurant and Bar owner Dave Campbell will host a vineyard lunch at Cambewarra Estate.

Lunch will be served amongst the vines and for dessert you can look forward to a flaming brandy Bombe Alaska with grape jelly.

Mr Campbell said Tiradito kingfish, Jamberoo Mountain blue cheese and Wagyu beef eye fillet will also make the plates. And, of course, there will be wine.

But there is a surprise in store this year, Mr Campbell said.

“We are doing a series of dinners this year called the producer’s series, where we will have very specific menus tailored for each venue and location,” he said.

“Last year we only served at the alpaca farm and catered for 100 people.

“We are going for a more intimate feel this year, catering for 40 people at each producer’s dinner – the winery, one at the alpaca farm and the other at the HopDog Brewery.”

Mr Campbell said the menus would be interactive, unique and something that would enrich the senses.

“Food will be picked from the vines and at the brewery guests will enjoy sucking on maple syrup paddle pops while inhaling the bittersweet and very fragrant hop flowers,” he said.

“A lot of inspiration for the menus comes from standing in the locations and from the environment there.

“Bookings are filling up fast.”

The HopDog BeerWorks, Australian Craft Beer Brewery lunch will be hosted on Friday, October 10 and include other culinary delights such as beer mash sourdough with cultured butter, lamb neck and barley risotto, barbecue beef sirloin with stout ice-cream and malted custard, with a twist, for dessert.

Lunch at the Millpaca Stud alpaca farm is on Sunday, October 12 and will include a unique menu of alpaca wool paddle pops, soup dumplings, steamed alpaca buns, a seafood tower and braised alpaca shoulder.

The famous gutters will make another appearance at the farm this year – serving the best sundae around.

Berry’s South on Albany is also ready to get into the spirit of food and wine, hosting a four-course feast by chef John Evans on Sunday, October 12. 

Mr Evans will use produce from his favourite local suppliers and match dishes with the perfect wines for a full degustation experience.

“This is the first time our restaurant will be part of the event,” he said.

“It’s all about showcasing what we have down here.

“The menu will be planned around local produce … it’s all about the local producers.”

Mr Evans said he can sit up to 50 people for the event.

“We’re really looking forward to it.”
