Mr Marcal was travelling along Tarawarra Street in Bomaderry near the intersection with Meroo Street when “a dark green car came belting around the corner” sideswiping his Subaru station wagon.
Three men were later arrested after leading police on a high speed chase which stretched from Berry, through Bomaderry, Nowra and South Nowra before eventually finishing on Braidwood Road at Yerriyong.
“I had my indicator on to turn left into Meroo Street and this car just came around the corner sideways,” Mr Marcal said.
“I veered to the left to try to get out of the way but they hit the rear quarter of my car.”
His vehicle’s dash cam shows the car coming around the corner and you can hear the thud as Mr Marcal’s vehicle is sideswiped.
“The next thing police cars were everywhere, I think about five went past,” he said.
“None stopped as they didn’t know I’d actually been hit.”
Mr Marcal rang triple-0 to report the accident but did not require an ambulance.
The day after his excitement he says he is suffering whiplash, shock and trauma and will be making a claim for criminal compensation for his injuries and the damage to his car, which he estimates at $500.
“I’ve only ever seen something like it on television, on the cops shows, Division Four, Homicide or Miami Vice,” he joked.
“If I’d known they were crooks I wouldn’t have veered left, I would have gone right and T-boned them.
“I might have ended up as a hero.”
