THE South Pacific Wheelchair Tennis competition, held at Nowra’s West Street courts, was a great success.
The Holiday Haven Open Singles was won by Keegan Oh-Chee (NSW) 6-3 6-2 over seven times consecutive winner Mick Connell (NSW).
Semi-finalists were Henry de Cure (SA) and Anderson Parker (NSW).
The final was a highly entertaining match with the pupil finally coming of age and overpowering the teacher as Mick coaches most of the young wheelchair tennis players in Sydney.
Keegan has competed at the South Pacific tournament for the past six years, starting in 2008 as a 15 year old.
He has witnessed six of Connell’s victories and has now tasted victory himself.
The Bomaderry Bowling Club Open Doubles was won by Travis Moffat (NZ) and Keegan Oh-Chee (NSW) with runners-up Mick Connell (NSW) and Stephan Rochecouste (NSW).
The consolation final was won by Travis Moffat (NZ) with local North Nowra player Jim Chivers the runner-up.
