Integrity directors Cherylee Elliott (Berry), Kelly Pritchard (Nowra) and Able Walsh (Jervis Bay) presented the cheque to Shoalhaven Education Fund (SEF) chairperson Linda Marquis and secretary Sophie Ray.
Mr Morrison was well-known for his North Nowra Christmas lights display. With his wife Brenda he raised tens of thousands of dollars for Shoalhaven Hospital’s children’s ward.
He was killed and his wife and their two daughters were injured when their car and a four-wheel-drive collided on the outskirts of Culburra Beach last month.
The Morrison family was overwhelmed with the support from the Shoalhaven community since the accident, and in response to public requests offering donations, the Shoalhaven Education Fund (SEF) established a Scott Morrison Scholarship to be awarded annually.
The SEF works to support the young and disadvantaged in the Shoalhaven.
SEF chairperson Linda Marquis said any donations would be used to establish the scholarship fund, with money invested and scholarships issued from interest earned.
“The aim is to help disadvantaged youth in the area, aged between 16-21, who want to go to university, TAFE, take up apprenticeships or entry level jobs,” Ms Marquis said.
“It is a great way to pay tribute to Scott, who did so much helping so many people, and a great way for him to be remembered.”
Donations for the Scott Morrison Scholarship fund can be made in person at the Nowra Branch of the Bendigo Bank, or via EFT at Bendigo Bank BSB: 633 000 A/C No: 146513171 Ref: Scott Morrison Scholarship.
Nominations for the first scholarship are now open and close on December 31.
