The club offers athletics to people of all ages and ability within the Shoalhaven and because of the 'all age' factor the club is proud to be classed as a family club.
Therefore family participation is encouraged and the club encourages all interested people to come along on Wednesday September 10 from 6pm to see what it’s all about.
As well as a selection of track and field events for all, on the first night of the season the club will be holding the Nowra Track Classic – a 10 000 metre track event.
It was run last year for the first time, with great results so the club felt that it was important to run it again this year.
The 25 laps of the track was won last year by Damian Smith.
No doubt he will be back to defend his title as the male winner of the classic and the pace is sure to be on.
Rebecca Eastment won the women's race last year in a good time and we expect a few female runners this year to give it a shot.
This race is only on once a year so this is the only opportunity throughout the season to run 10k on the track so why not have a crack for the first time or see if you can beat last year's time or just beat your mate on the final lap
With 25 laps it is a good race with plenty of time to make a move.
The 10 000 metre is perhaps the ultimate Olympic Race and has so much history so whynot have a run and see how you go before you are too old to do it.
The race will be held at approximately 7pm, which is the perfect time for a fast time.
It doesn't matter if you run 35mins or 45mins or 55mins anyone can enter so keep running and training and remember no pain no gain.
Nowra Athletics Club looks forward to seeing you all there.
