NATIONAL Meals on Wheels Day was celebrated on Wednesday, August 27 and I want to acknowledge the extraordinary work of those Meals on Wheels volunteers who operate across our region helping those who need this vital service. Meals on Wheels is an iconic Australian service and the work these volunteers do is an essential community service and the meals they provide make an enormous impact in the lives of so many.

I am continually reminded how lucky our region is to have so many hard-working and dedicated volunteers in not just Meals on Wheels but in so many organisations who place service above self. In whatever way you help, volunteer or lend a hand – my warmest thanks for all you have done and continue to do on behalf of a very grateful community.
