June Bradwell, 64, of Peppermint Drive, appeared before Magistrate Dr Gabriel Fleming in Nowra Local Court on Friday, pleading guilty to a high range drink drive offence and with driving in a manner dangerous.
Facts before the court said Ms Bradwell was driving in Peppermint Drive when she saw her former partner, who still lives in the same house, driving in the opposite direction with another woman in his car.
Police said Ms Bradwell followed the couple and rammed her car into the driver’s side of the vehicle as it parked in a neighbouring driveway.
The man tried to escape from the scene but Ms Bradwell followed the vehicle and rammed it three more times from behind.
When police arrived at the location in Greenwell Point Road, Ms Bradwell’s car had left the roadway in front of the Shoalhaven Ex-servicemen’s Sports Club, travelled along a grassed area and crashed through a gas meter.
With large volumes of gas escaping the ruptured main and fearing an explosion, police closed nearby roads, setting up an exclusion zone between Old Southern Road and Rayleigh Drive.
Patrons at the nearby club were unable to leave the premises, while residents were advised to remain indoors until the gas could be shut off.
Magistrate Fleming continued Ms Bradwell’s bail, adjourning the matter until October 10 for the presentation of a presentence report.
