THE funeral service for Scott Morrison, a tireless community fund-raiser and highly respected Shoalhaven man, killed in a head on car crash east of Nowra earlier this month will be held next Wednesday.
Mr Morrison died, and his wife Brenda, and their two daughters Lilly and Charlotte were injured, when their car and a four-wheel drive collided on the outskirts of Culburra Beach.
The driver of the second vehicle, Peter Barclay of East Nowra, also died at the scene.
A funeral service, or as the family would like it, a celebration of Scott’s life, will held at Nowra City Church, at the corner of McMahons Road and Pitt Street at North Nowra on September 3 at 11am.
Mourners are asked not to wear traditional black but bright, colourful clothes.
Friends have even suggested it would be a fitting tribute and appropriate if the odd Santa made an appearance.
Over the last decade the Morrisons have raised more than $60,000 for the Shoalhaven Hospital’s Children’s Ward through their annual Christmas light display.
Mrs Morrison, who is making a good recovery from multiple injuries, has rejected offers of public assistance, but has asked for donations to be made towards a Shoalhaven Education Fund (SEF), a scholarship that will be awarded each year in her husband’s honour, to help disadvantaged children.
All donations can be made in person at the Nowra Branch of Bendigo Bank, or via electronic funds transfer BSB: 633 000 A/C No: 146513171 Ref: Scott Morrison Scholarship
