Moss Vale Road between Fitzroy Falls and Kangaroo Valley was blocked earlier this week after a large amount of rock and vegetation slid down the side of Barrengarry Mountain.
The concrete barriers are aimed at holding back any further material which slips down the embankment.
A RMS spokesperson said more permanent barriers would be put in place by the end of September, once a further assessment of the area had been made.
“The community will be advised in advance of any changes to traffic conditions for this work to be carried out,” the spokesperson said.
