Figures from the Bureau of Meteorology show Nowra received 51.8mm since Saturday, including 39mm between 9am Tuesday and Wednesday.
To Thursday morning, Nowra has recorded 257.6mm for the month, well above the average of 31.1mm and the previous record fall of 80mm in 2001.
Nowra has received 710.4mm so far this year, more than 70mm above the average, but is still well down on rainfall to this time last year when the area had recorded 928mm.
The falls of rain over the past month have been varied and widespread.
According to the bureau, Point Perpendicular has received 175.4mm this month (average 60.2), including 34.4mm since Saturday.
Further south, Ulladulla has recorded 59mm since Saturday, including 45.2mm to 9am Tuesday morning.
The area has recorded 184.8mm for the month, well above its average for August of 60mm.
Kiama has recorded 34.6mm since Saturday, which takes the monthly total to 279mm, well above the monthly average of 27.9.
There have been reports of massive falls of rain on the escarpment above Kangaroo Valley, which has led to the Kangaroo River rising and flowing quickly under the Hampden Bridge.
The bureau said Moss Vale had recorded 81.4mm since Saturday.
