Mr Powell is an architect and builder with a passion for built heritage.
He has been involved, as a consultant and designer, over the last 30 years, with many interesting buildings both locally and in Sydney.
While he has his own busy architectural practice, Mr Powell’s enthusiasm to care for and save old buildings has led to a long association with Sydney Living Museums, the owners of Meroogal.
As well as his practice, Nick has been carrying out maintenance work at Meroogal since the late 1990s to repair and sometimes replace the fragile fabric of this historic house.
This has given him a unique understanding of the way the house was constructed, some of which is strange and puzzling.
Take this opportunity to join Nick on a fascinating tour of Meroogal. Hear how, when it was built in the late 19th century it was a modern house, investigate the small details telling the story of change and unravel some of the secrets.
The Architect’s Eye tour will be held Saturday, September 6 from 2-4pm at Meroogal on the corner of Worrigee and West streets, Nowra.
Bookings are essential and general admission is $20, which includes afternoon tea.
Concessions and members entry is $15.
