The students come from five local high schools and one primary school and have been training for three weeks with a team of national and internationally acclaimed artists in rap, poetry, contemporary dance and didgeridoo.

Marc Locke from Bawley Point will play didgeridoo in the show. He said he has loved learning the instrument and being with his mates.

Shoalhaven High School student Shakeela Williams will be singing on the night. She has spent time working with one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal composers William Barton.

“I am finding out a lot about my own culture which has been good,” she said.

“To work with William Barton is very great experience.”

The Bundanon local program TRANSMIT offers youth the chance to celebrate their creative spirit using different art forms.

Among the mentors was award winning poet Candy Royalle, who felt privileged to be working with the students.

“Through this project the participants have the opportunity to really tap into their own voices and be heard by their communities,” she said.

The free TRANSMIT performance will be staged in the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre’s Studio at 6pm and 8pm.
