NOWRA Red Cross celebrated its 100 year anniversary last Thursday, August 14 with a meet and greet at the Wesley Centre on Berry Street.

The day was an opportunity for the public to visit, enjoy some morning tea and browse stalls and a photographic display of the branch’s history.
Along with Nowra branch, members from Shoalhaven Heads Red Cross, Milton-Ulladulla Red Cross and the Werninck Craft Cottage also held stalls.
President of the Nowra branch Brian Eschmann said it was wonderful for the enterprise to celebrate 100 years.
“People can just not believe the enormous areas [Red Cross] covers in every facet in just about every country in the world,” he said.
“And it’s mainly run by volunteers.
“Without the local community, we would not be able to continue.”
The Nowra branch held its AGM on Tuesday, August 12 with 17 members present and eight apologies received.
Also present were Zone 7 representative Denise Kennedy and invited guest Jim Connell.
Following the reading of the previous minutes, treasurer’s report and president’s report, all committee chairs were vacated.
The incoming committee for 2014-2015 are: President Brian Eschmann; secretary Norma Lee; treasurer Mark Kelly; vice-president Shirley Santwyk; assistant secretary Lorraine Christian; assistant treasurer Jean Crome; patron-welfare officer Zena Apps; publicity officer Tracy Reksmiss.
Pealr Walker was presented with her 10 years’ Long Service Medal.
Nowra branch also hosted the Zone 7 Conference on Tuesday, July 29.
