Police were called to the home in Warramunga Street around 11pm where a lounge was on fire, with flames spreading to the front wall of the property.
The owner of the house, a 55-year-old woman, who also had two 12-year-old children in the home, was alerted to the fire by neighbours and escaped unhurt.
Neighbours used a garden hose to extinguish the blaze and with the help of police the lounge was moved away from the home to stop any further damage.
Fire and Rescue NSW Shoalhaven and Nowra crews attended the blaze to ensure it was extinguished.
Police searched the area and spoke with a 14-year-old Nowra male.
Police are looking for another young male, described as being about 14, of chubby build, fair skin and dark hair who might be able to assist with inquiries.
