Scott Morrison, 40, from North Nowra and Peter Barclay, 35, from Nowra East died in a two-vehicle collision at 2.20pm.
Mr Morrison was in a Kia Sorento travelling east and Mr Barclay in a Mitsubishi Pajero heading west when they collided in the eastbound lane.
Mr Morrison was travelling with his wife, Brenda, and their two daughters at the time.
She sustained a broken arm, fractured ribs and possible spinal injuries, while both daughters, aged four and seven, had fractured arms.
All three were airlifted to Westmead Hospital where they are reported being in a stable condition.
Scott Morrison was known for his Christmas lights which lit up the family home in Gumnut Way each year.
Visitors to the colourful display would leave a donation which the Morrisons gave to Shoalhaven Hospital.
The couple raised more than $60,000 for the children’s ward and their efforts helped purchased numerous pieces of equipment including an AccuVein machine, a blood gas machine, a twin humidicrib, beds, monitoring equipment and tinting for the ward’s windows.
The Lake Illawarra Crash Investigation Unit is looking into the cause of the crash.
