DOES someone have to die in the Bay and Basin area before Macquarie Street wakes up to the fact that we not only need, but demand, a 24/7 police station?

The argument for more officers on the beat, or at the very least patrolling the area, would be fulfilled if we had a 24/7 police station.
If we continue with the “more patrols from Nowra” mentality, we will get to a point where those patrols are needed elsewhere and the antisocial mob will once again crawl out from under their collective rocks and we will be back to square one.
In the past two weeks we have seen a siege, one attempted hold-up and another hold-up. Is none of this getting through to Shelley Hancock or Fiona Phillips?
Just recently we saw reports which said Sanctuary Point was such a fast growing area that we were at the top of the list for the Shoalhaven for rental property purchases. While the majority of those renting properties are law-abiding citizens, you will always get those who aren’t also thrown into the mix.
If we are the fastest growing area in the Shoalhaven, as quoted, then the odds of antisocial tenants also grows in proportion to that growth.
I have said before that the residents of the Bay and Basin area have had enough. With over 20,000 residents, the majority of whom vote, the building of a 24/7 police station in the area will be a major factor in which candidate gets into office at the next election in March.
Shelley, Fiona, which of you (and your respective parties) is willing to guarantee a 24/7 police station immediately following the next election?
Sorry, I’m not hearing your answer.
L. Boucher,
Sanctuary Point.
