The assault happened about midnight Wednesday near Nebraska Road in St Georges Basin.
The man suffering facial injuries after allegedly being attacked by a group of people.
The victim was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to Shoalhaven Hospital and was released later Thursday morning.
The police dog squad was called to the area in an attempt to track down the offenders who had escaped into nearby bush near Waterpark Road.
The search finished at 2am Thursday, and failed to find any alleged offenders.
Police are yet to formally interview the attack victim.
