All residents who have notified their intentions to burn are advised to hold off until conditions
have eased.
Temperatures are expected to reach about 24 degrees and winds are forecast at 60 to 80km/h with peak gusts up to 110.
The RFS said these conditions will make containing any fire almost impossible.
These conditions are expected mostly throughout the afternoon and into the night.
Superintendent Mark Williams said under severe conditions, fires will be uncontrollable and fast
moving, and could threaten properties with little warning.
“If a fire breaks out in severe conditions, you should only stay with your home if it’s well-prepared and
you are able to actively defend it," he said.
“That’s why it’s so important that people are prepared, by having a Bush Fire Survival Plan so they
know what to do if a fire affects their community.
"We have seen numerous fires over the Shoalhaven in the past couple of days and we are urging all
residents and land holders to be vigilant when around fire and if you have any concerns contact Triple
Zero immediately."
