ON Friday, July 18 two 13-year-old Shoalhaven Little Athletics members competed at the NSW All Schools Combined High Schools Cross Country Championships, held at Eastern Creek.
Jade Mustapic ran the 13 years 3000 metres in a time of 13 minutes and 10 seconds and finished 10th overall from a large field of 94 competitors.
Victoria Kennedy also competed in this event and ran across the line in 55th place in a time of 14 minutes and 48 seconds.
Both girls also competed at the Little Athletics NSW 2014 State Cross Country championships earlier in the month.
They have been busy running and will be well prepared for the return of the Shoalhaven Little Athletics season which will start on Tuesday, September 2.
Little Athletics is a sport that provides an opportunity for higher levels of fitness and better health.
Little Athletics is not really about winning but about having fun, making friends and getting families involved in healthy activities.
The emphasis is placed on participation and personal improvement.
Shoalhaven Little Athletics is held on Tuesday evenings from September through to March at Ron Brown Sporting Complex from 5.30pm to about 7.30pm and is open to children from tiny tots to children 17 years of age.
All keen athletes are asked to come and register at Ron Brown Sporting Complex, located behind Shoalhaven High School on one of the following days: Saturday, August 23 from 9.30am to noon, Tuesday, August 26 from 5pm to 6.30pm, Saturday, August 30 from 9.30am to noon.
The cost remains the same as last year with $65 for tiny tots and $80 for all other athletes.
A family discount applies for the third child and above.
Families are reminded that it is cash or cheque only, as there are no eftpos facilities available.
If you register at one of the above dates you will go in the draw for a reimbursement of your registration fee, so mark the dates in your diary now and come along and register.
Athletes not registered before must bring proof of age.
