Police hold ‘‘grave concerns’’ for missing Kiama teen Scott Carrigan and are urging anyone who sees him to call Triple-0 immediately.
Scott, 19, was reported missing when he failed to return home after dropping off a friend at an Albion Park house at 9.45pm on Thursday.
He has not been seen since and his phone has been turned off.
Lake Illawarra acting inspector Matt Glasgow said police were concerned about Scott’s welfare due to “comments made on Facebook” written shortly before the teen went missing.
He said police had conducted numerous searches without success.
Scott’s parents first contacted police several hours after he failed to return home on Thursday.
Since then, a Facebook page has been created in a desperate attempt to locate the teen. On Monday, the page had attracted nearly 10,000 likes.
Scott owns a 2006 black Holden VZ Calais, registration plate AK7 5CO with green P-plates, white wall tyres and venetian blinds in the rear window.
Mr Carrigan's car, number plate AK 75 CO.
The car is pictured with door stickers in several photos posted on social media but the stickers had been removed prior to Scott’s disappearance.
The Facebook page urges people to double-check the registration if they think they see the car following several reported ‘‘sightings’’ involving one of Scott’s mates, who has a similar car.
Scott is known to frequent the area from Wollongong to Nowra.
Scott is described as Caucasian with a large build and between 190cm and 195cm tall. He has dark hair and brown eyes and was unshaven when he was last seen.
The page also revealed police have been tracing Scott’s bank details in an attempt to locate him.
Friends and family have taken to social media to spread the word using the hashtag #findscottsafe.
