THE second round of the St Georges Basin Men's Golf Club's mixed foursomes championship was held on Sunday with the honours going to formidable husband and wife team Darren and Kerry Mayer on a score of 166 for the 36 holes.

Richard Zionzee and Lynn Dunn on their first attempt at this form of the game came in runners-up with a creditable score of 171. Congratulations to both teams.
In the handicap section Richard and Lynn blitzed the field with a magnificent nett score of 134. Coming in a distant second on 146 were Jill and Bill O'Connor.
The daily event was won by Julie Atlee and John Callaby with a great score of 66 nett from Richard Zionzee and Lynn Dunn on 68 ½ nett. Golf balls went down to 71 ½ on a countback.
On Saturday 130 players contested an 18-hole, two-ball aggregate Stableford in glorious conditions.
Winners in A grade on 78 points were Alan Puffett and Kevin Fagg from Ross Fenton and Barry Pollock on 77 and Greg Glew and Jeff Clark on 76 points.
In B grade Lloyd Buckley and Don McKee came in winners on a great score of 80 points from Tim Farrell and Luke Meskell on 77 and Keith Cummins and Eric Murphy with 76 points. Well done to all these players.
In the novelty events Peter Schloeffell won nearest the pin on the second, Ross Fenton got the 10th, Max Davies the 13th and Rick Goreki was closest on the 15th.
Kevin Fagg won the drive and pitch on the sixth hole with a magnificent eagle and Graham Baker got closest on the 18th.
Neither of the eagles nests were won and next week there will be nine balls on the second and 36 balls on the 15th.
Next Saturday members will contest the August monthly medal and on Sunday the annual men’s and women’s Friendship Day will be held featuring a four person ambrose event. Good golfing.
