In his bout he came out swinging, but Kenya's Nickson Abaka got the unanimous points decision.
Despite the loss in men's middleweight 75 kilogram division, Lucas thanked his friends, family, coach and supporters who have helped him on his Commonwealth Games journey.
In a message he posted on his Facebook wall Tuesday morning he said:
"A massive thank you to everyone who supported me. Without my dad, financially it would have been impossible. To coach Don Abnett, thank you for pushing me to the next level over the past two years. Thanks to my family. Biggest thank you to Nudge Mieli and Emma Herbert, without you guys I would have never have achieved what I have. Without both your love coaching and support I wouldn't be where I was seven years ago. I just didn't have a good night, felt a little off, but that's just the way it goes sometimes. Thanks everyone for your support."
Lucas became the fifth Australian boxer to progress in the Games after winning with an unanimous points decision over Sri Lanka’s Senanga Nawarantha in the men's middleweight 75 kilogram division on Saturday morning.
