“Now that Shoalhaven residents can see the results of the $210,000 Berry Street footpath renovation in the Nowra CBD, it is clear that Shoalhaven City Council is good at gold plating pathways and not just in Vincentia,” Cr Guile said.
He claimed to have proposed Berry Street path be fixed in 2012.
“It took until October last year to confirm the budget for this project and then a whole 10 months later we can see the results. Al fresco facilities for the lawyers are now well catered for providing an excellent view of almost all the coffee shops which are on the other side of the road. At the same time we lose valuable car parking in the CBD and for what benefit?"
“Junction Court is an ongoing stuff up with yet more money being poured into a project that has been plain shoddy in its delivery. How can it be so difficult to re-open a road to traffic?"
Deputy Mayor John Wells disagreed with Cr Guile’s view.
He has said the Berry Street upgrade was an important part of improving the area’s presentation and amenity.
He believed it was something the business community wanted.
