The lousy conditions ensured that high scores were just a figment of players’ imaginations and the final scores supported that theory.
Overall winner for the day was Bill Downton, who played some consistent and reasonable golf to take a one-point win.
Bill said the win was great but being able to play reasonable golf was even better, and as an added extra, he did it with great company with his wife Carmel and club low handicapper Steve Monsalve.
Things just got better for Bill as the day went on with a win in the raffle.
He reckons the “golf God” must have been looking after him.
Runner-up on Saturday was Andrew Anderson, who played some great golf to come in just one point behind Bill and recording the same score as Steve Monsalve, who lucked out to Andrew on a countback.
Steve gained some solace in executing a beautiful iron shot at the 15th, landing the ball within close proximity to the cup and scoring himself a birdie and ball for his efforts.
Other sharp shooters for the day were:
Third hole - Doug Ingle
Sixth hole - Dave Brumby
12th hole - Garry Miller
Ball rundown for the day: G. Donovan, I. Sesum, J. Wakefield, R. Clarke, M. Reardon, P. MacPerson, H. Clarke, D. Ingle, G. Lewington, H. Reynolds, B. Whitlock and J. Love.
Raffle winners: Rex Batey, Peter Topliss and Bill Downton.
