At the Fairfax ACM (Australian Community Media) Sales Awards for 2014, Rachael was named Sales Manager of the Year.
In competition with a field of sales managers from the company’s stable of regional non-daily newspapers across the country, Rachael said she was stunned when her name was called.
“I was blown away to receive the first award for sales management in the company, as this was a new award introduced only this year,” she said.
“It was something I wasn’t expecting. In fact, I was delighted enough just to have been nominated by one of my team.
“I’m well aware that behind every good manager is an even greater team who make you look good.”
Rachael has been in the newspaper industry for 19 years.
She started her career at the Highlands Post in Bowral where she was an advertising consultant for two years before moving to Nowra in 1997.
She worked first as sales manager at the South Coast Register and was later promoted to the position of general manager of the Register and the Shoalhaven and Nowra News.
Rachael currently manages a team of 10 staff in the sales department and 23 personnel all up.
At a special morning tea held in her honour, regional manager for the South Coast, Jo Boole, paid tribute to Rachael’s hard work and dedication.
She said Rachael was an exceptionally talented sales manager who gave every task “her all”, every day, on behalf of her own staff as well as advertising clients.
