IT was back to social bowls at the Nowra Women’s Bowling Club after the completion of the fours competition and the strong and bitter winds certainly kept the ladies from the green.

There were three games of triples on the day with the following results:
Mary Thurbon, Helen Day, Jean Vos defeated Linda Musgrove, Fay Ison, Maureen Snell.
Josie Gensen, Jan Rouse, Bev Poulton defeated Peg Burrell, Jan Rouse, Jeanette MacKenzie.
Fay Potter, Lin Hulbert, Shirley Flohr defeated Rickie Gilligan, Betty Mills, Chris Brown.
The vouchers for the day were Maureen Snell and Josie Gensen.
It was the start of the minor singles competition on Thursday with the first round consisting of two games only.
Marijke Shinn defeated Josie Gensen the marker for this game was Maureen Snell.
Lee Emblen defeated Robyn Watson the marker for this game was Chris Brown
The score for both matches was 26-14 with 22 ends and 24 ends respectively.

There was one social match played with Linda Musgrove and Jeanette MacKenzie defeated Peg Burrell and Jean Vos.
It was meeting day on Tuesday where all matters were dealt with in the usual manner and immediately after the meeting it was then down to the second round of minor singles for the following teams:
The winners of the first round Marijke Shinn and Lee Emblen played in the first semi final and the winner of that match was Marijke Shinn the score in that match 25-11.
The other semi-final saw Rickie Gilligan playing against Linda Musgrove and the winner of that match was Linda Musgrove the score in that match 25-15.

The final of the minor singles was played on Thursday between Marijke Shinn and Linda Musgrove and the match was close for the first five ends then it was Marijke who pulled away scoring eight shots over the next three ends and was able to hold onto that lead throughout the final with the score at the end of the game 25-15.
Congratulations to Marijke Shinn for being our minor singles winner for 2014 and to Linda Musgrove on reaching the final.
Our thanks to the controlling body Chris Brown, umpire Bev Poulton and the marker our President Carol Hollands the match was watched by our ladies and enjoyed by all.
Members are reminded that the list for the minor pairs is on the board closing July 16 and the first match being played on July 24.
Following close behind once again we have the major minor this closes on August 11 with the first date of play August 19.
