The Group 16 Narooma Devils played the Tathra Sea Eagles at Bill Smyth Oval, Narooma today (Sunday, July 13). Not long into the game Narooma's Kyle Burnell was sin binned for 10 minutes and Tathra went on to score their first try which was converted. Narooma were next to score converting the try to bring the score to 6 all. Before long Narooma scored another try bringing the score to 10 to 6. Then Tathra scored another try but the conversion kick hit the upright and the score was 10 all. Narooma scored again and they converted making the score 16-10. Just before half time Tathra were awarded a penalty and kicked a goal. The half time score was 16 to 12.

Narooma went on to win the game 44 to 30.

LAST Sunday we were at home to Tathra on a beautiful sunny day, our first grade boys were down; a few of our usual players on the injury list, but their replacements stepped up to the mark and proved themselves as winners, winning to the tune of 44 to Tathra 30.
The first 10 mins Tony Tyrell ran the ball time and time again, plus Riley giving good chase, Narooma pressing their line, Tyler tackling everything that moved 15 minutes in Tathra scored and kicked the goal 6- nil. Twenty minutes in Narooma attacking Tyler got in the clear, passing to Todd Ayres who scored, Koorin Campbell converted 6 all.
At the 25 minute mark Taylor gave a good pass to winger Yuin Campbell who went over to score but Koorin's kick was unsuccessful - Narooma 10 Tathra 6.
Thirty minutes in Tathra scored but the kick failed, bringing the score to 10 all. Riley made a try saving tackle and play seesawed back and forth.
Tyler made another break and passed to Taylor who scored with Koorin kicking the goal - Narooma 16 Tathra 10. Tathra were looking good but stopped in their tracks by a try stopping tackle by coach Todd Ayres. Then a penalty to Tathra left the score Narooma 16 Tathra 12 at half time.
Two minutes into the second half Taylor scored his second try the kick was unsuccessful Narooma 20-12. Then Tathra bounced back again scoring 10 minutes into second half the score now Narooma 20 Tathra 18.
Five minutes later Todd Ayres was in again, kicked by Koorin Narooma 26-18.
Todd Wright broke away and ran amok with Taylor backing him and he ran to score. The score was now 32-18. Play kept seesawing back and forth with tries alternately between the two teams. A good run by winger Yuin Campbell 70 minutes, Tyler scored Narooma 38-18.
Tathra then scored two quick tries and the scores were close Narooma 38-30. Then with two minutes to go Riley with a great run broke through and then coach Todd Ayres scored brilliant play, Koorin kicked the final score Narooma 44 Tathra 30.
Best and Fairest 3 points Tyler Hextell, 2 points Taylor Alley and 1 point Riley Hextell. Coaches award went to Justin Keegan and Players Player Riley Hextell.
The Ladies League Tag didn't eventuate as Tathra forfeited to them early in the week.
Next week first grade have a bye.
Reserve Grade went down 16-4 and were much improved. Best and Fairest Stephen "fatty" Stenhouse, 2 points Daniel Aldderton, 1 point Joel Lanskey. Coaches award and Players Player Stephen Stenhouse well done.
