According to the results of a new study by Illawarra Shoalhaven Medicare Local and University of Wollongong there’s a pretty good chance it’s not enough.
For close to a decade we have been hearing a lot about how fat and unhealthy we are becoming.
It’s a vicious circle. With many of our lives becoming busier there is less time for cooking healthy meals, socialising and exercising.
As pressure on your time increases something has to give. That something is too often diet and exercise.
It’s quicker to buy takeaway food and you can save an hour a day by not using that same 60 minutes to exercise.
That choice just gave you up to two hours more each day to spend working.
However, in the long-term, that choice most likely took a chunk off your life expectancy. Depending on your age it was also likely to have a negative impact on your health in the short term. That impact might trigger underlying physical or mental issues.
And before long you are back at the start feeling time pressure to get things done because now your health has deteriorated to a point where you can’t work as much due to health problems.
Maybe we could all invest more weight in prioritising exercise or healthy food in our lives and turn those nasty statistics around.
