THE case against a Nowra man who allegedly stole two handbags from women in Nowra in the space of four-and-a-half hours has been referred to Nowra District Court.

Steven Edward Brackley, 32, of Ferry Lane, who is in custody, did not appear in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday when the matter was heard by Magistrate Alison Viney.
Court documents claim on September 27 between 12.10pm and 12.20pm Brackley approached a 40-year-old woman in the car park at Stockland Nowra and allegedly stole a handbag, which contained $60 and cards, before running off.
Police claim a few hours later, between 4.45pm and 4.55pm, Brackley stole the handbag of a 64-year-old woman in a Berry Street car park.
Magistrate Viney refused bail, with Brackley was remanded in custody to reappear in Nowra District Court via video link on July 22.
