Contractors Zauner Constructions have taken advantage of fine weather and progressed on construction of the new complex, while Designcrete has prepared the site for the pool floor.
Up to 275 cubic metres of concrete is expected to be laid for the floor, which will be constructed in three separate pours.
The floor is expected to be poured in the next six to eight weeks.
The screw piles, some ranging from a depth of 300mm deep to up to eight and nine metres in other areas are in place, topped with pile caps, from which the reinforced steel to support the pool will be attached.
Shoalhaven City Council’s project manager Gary George said the contractors found good footings in the rock bed, forming a good foundation to carry the weight of the structure.
Trenches for the filtered waterlines are also being put in place.
A large excavation for the balance tank is in place at the southern end of the pool, while work is also being done on the filtration tanks beneath the plant room.
Designs for the aquatic water park, which will include a children’s splash pad, have been finished.
The pad will be located in the north east corner of the complex and will include a combined slide and tipping bucket structure.
The new pool will be nine lanes wide, compared to the old structure’s seven.
It is expected to open during the next swim season.
