The day saw Ricky May produce the best score of the day, to win the monthly mug and the C grade nett and scratch with 95/68.
This was Ricky's third monthly mug win of the year so far, needless to say he is a serious contender for the medal of medals event in November. Great golf Ricky! In the A grade section, Craig Holbrow played well enough to win the Medal with a 72 nett. Good to see you back out playing again Craig.
Runner-up was Jim Sach with 73 nett. Good round Jimmy! Third place went to Tony Hanson with a 73 nett. The scratch winner was Troy Monie with 76. The scores were much higher than we are accustomed due to the blustery conditions, which resulted in quite a few players failing to complete their rounds.
The B grade medal winner was Garry DeBanke, who is use to playing in the wind, well done Garry, who also cleaned up the scratch with an 87/72. Runner-up was Garth Perkins who survived on a countback from third placed Steve Kohler, both on nett 74.
The runner-up to Ricky in the C grade was Geoff Rankin with a nett 74. Third place went to Ed Mearns with nett 77. Ed stunned everyone when he came dressed in his kilt to play golf, I think you cleaned up the best dressed award there Ed and we hope your golf balls stayed warmer than some other bodily parts.
Great to see some funky dressed golfers out there each week. Chris Pender has certainly attracted some interest in his bright outfits and now has some strong competition amongst his peers.
The novelty events are popular each week and well done to all the winners and congratulations to George Kulcsar who swooped the Culburra Kitchens Eagles nest jackpot on the 17th hole, with a great shot which finished 38 centimetres from the pin.
Speaking of great shots, well done to Sue Earle who scored a hole in one on the sixth hole in competition last Saturday, great shot Sue!
Just a reminder to all men who wish to play in our clubs major event, the Worrigee Links Cup, if you haven't already done so, please enter your name in the Pro-Shop soon as the field is reaching capacity.
Another major event was decided last Friday, with the final of the singles match-play championships played between Brad Henderson and Tony Hanson.
In a very closely fought out match, our congratulations go to this year’s winner, Brad who won the match two and one. Even more impressive was the fact that this was Brad's first full year as a comp player, so well done to Brad and also to Tony on making it through to the final match.
Will see you both at presentation night to receive your prizes. For those who may not be in the running for a major trophy, why not purchase a raffle ticket and you could win yourself a brand new Cobra BIO cell plus driver. You gotta be in it to win it folks! Tickets are on sale in the Pro-Shop and drawn at Preso Night later in the year.
On Monday we hosted the Mid South Coast Vets tournament, some 140 veteran golfers from all over the region participated and our thanks goes to Alf, Stu and all the Vets committee for their organisation of the event. Tomorrow is the open Stableford and this Saturday is a 4BBB Stableford and an individual, hope to see you all then!
Good golfing till next week.
