The South Coast Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC) will offer guaranteed jobs for up to 200 people who complete the required training.
The jobs will be in multiple industries, such as health and banking, airlines, construction, waste management, and local and state government.
The training and employment centre will be run by Habitat Personnel.
Habitat has operated since 1994 delivering a range of programs and services specifically to the Aboriginal community.
Between 2010 and 2014 the organisation helped 611 Aboriginal people find work.
Managing director Gerry Moore said the company was about people’s wellbeing and contribution to society.
“That means we have to understand employers’ interests and ensure there is a perfect fit and a strong, harmonious relationship,” Mr Moore said.
“What makes Habitat different is that we are not satisfied until our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family have made the transition to long-term employment.
“Habitat Personnel prides itself on its approach to job seekers.
“The staff has a dedication and commitment to do whatever is needed to prepare, place and mentor someone into a secure job.
“This is integral to our ability to stay in touch with what is happening in young people’s minds and to know about our people’s day-to-day concerns,” Mr Moore said.
The Australian government has committed up to $45 million for VTECs to place up to 5000 indigenous Australians into specific jobs across Australia before July 2015.
