Vets’ championship to tee off tomorrow

THE cold westerly winds were not appreciated by the ladies at Vincentia, so no competition was played on Tuesday, June 24.

However we will attempt to play the June medal next Tuesday, weather permitting, as it has been postponed twice.

The men on Wednesday had a better

day and Justin Clarke prevailed with a good 38 points to win from Bill McDonnell with 37 points.

The nearest the pins were won by Peter Robinson, Bill McDonnell, Rob Walker and Kevin Hanlon.

The vets on Thursday had a reduced field because of the weather, but nine holes were played and Jim Pritchard won with 22 points from Mike Brunton with 20.

Tomorrow will be the first round of the vets’ club championships from 10 am with a 13-hole Stableford from approximately 10.45am.

Saturday was a better day for the men who played a Stableford.

Rob Christlo had a great 39 points to win A Grade from Gary Morrison with 37 on a countback from Mick McNeill.

The score of the day was by Col Defries to win B Grade with 40 points from Mick McNamara with 37 points.

Rob Christlo had a good day winning two nearest the pins and the other winners were Peter Deitrich and Col Defries.

Next Saturday will be the Monthly Medal for July.

Sunday will be the first round of the club’s mixed foursomes, with the second round on Sunday, July 13.

A reminder also of Christmas in July on Saturday, July 26 – tickets available at the club.
