Optus and the Hanlon Windows team are equal on points at this stage of the series but Hanlon are rostered as the race officials on Sunday at the Flinders Industrial Estate.
This will give Optus a clear margin as no other teams are close enough to close the gap.
Top point scorers in the Optus team include the Johns brothers, Levi and Nick, who along with Lawrence Schinella and Aaron Lauder, are noted sprinters.
They will be backed up by peter Kastelien, Gavin Nethery, Dave Gray and Kate Darke, who are all enjoying good form at the mid part of the season.
The Bomaderry Vet Hospital/Coffeeliscious team is in third position with a slight lead over TLE Electrical and East Coast Ultimate.
A spirited tussle is expected from these teams as they attempt to close in on Optus and Hanlon.
Levi Johns is a clear leader in the individual points in the MIE 2014 series and he also has a slender lead in the Watts Factory sprint points.
Next Sunday’s program will be scratch races in four grades on the Flinders circuit where more points will be available in both the MIE series and for Watts Factory sprint points.
Entries close at 8.45am and racing starts at 9am.
