Australia Post has responded to the changing face of communication in Australia with letter delivery at an all-time low and parcel delivery on the rise.
If the company continued without change, it said it would become unsustainable.
One of the ways the business is seeking to limit the losses is through the introduction of the two-speed letters service, which gives the sender the choice of a slower speed at a lower price.
Under this model, the postie still does his round every day, but the sender has a choice on the cost and speed that suits their needs.
Australia Post is calling on the community to have their say in the process and have launched a new national website to encourage all Australians to contribute its thoughts on the future of mail delivery.
The website is now available at www.auspost.com.au/conversation.
