The training, which is also taking place in the Sydney and Hunter regions, is being conducted to ensure the ADF has the highest level of capability to protect Australia’s national interests and provide assistance in times of civil emergency, including terrorist incidents.
The training will involve military personnel and aircraft. Personnel involved in the activity may be carrying weapons, however they will only use simulation, or ‘blank’, ammunition.
Defence has said these activities may result in disturbance to local residents and aims to minimise this disruption wherever possible.
The ADF has consulted with all relevant authorities including the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police.
